Gaines Farmhouse – A Dream Cozy Home

We are huge fans of the Magnolia team and what Chip and Joanna have built over the years. We cannot wait to try the restaurant, but we know everyone loves their farmhouse style. The Gaines have created the ultimate farmhouse dream for their family, and we thought we’d take a peak inside! All photos are from their site, so consider this a review of their beautiful farmhouse home.

A Look Inside:

The Fixer Upper stars gave a tour of their Farmhouse home to the Today show. Take a look inside the amazing renovation.

From the beautiful ship lap walls, to modern metal staircase, and down to the beautiful wood floors, the Gaines took this farmhouse renovation to the next level.

The couple purchased this 1895 farmhouse in 2012. Of course, the TV stars chose a home that needed a lot of TLC. Over a year and a half, the home was remodeled from a 2 bedroom closed off home into an open floor plan with lots of character from the old building.

From Joanna’s Instagram, here are some beautiful before and after photos.

The Details and Decor

Even a project like this takes time for experts. From their blog, Joanna mentions that it took a while for her to furnish the old country charm feel of this project due to the unique layout and considerations. If you watch the show, you Chip and Joanna’s farmhouse style likes to incorporate some of the old with new. The family took time to add and layer in their original pieces to the walls, shelves, and tables due to the strong meaning to their family unique.

Entryway

The French doors are a classic touch, and we love the natural wood look that compliments the white wash of the walls. The G in the entry way and functional storage drawers and coat hooks makes this a beautiful entry way choice.

Dining Room

Where to start on this incredible dining room?!

The chandelier is a beautiful touch to this space. As Joanna mentions in her blog, the dining room and kitchen share a space with the living room, creating the open feel many enjoy and love with larger families.

The table you see here is the same table the Gaines’ family has had for years, but with updated seating for comfort. We love how the leather seating adds some warmth and cozy feeling to the space.

Bench seating creates more space and invites guests to have a seat, and maybe a cookie from the family’s table.

The beautiful baker’s rack ties in nicely with the chandelier and table legs, bringing some depth into the space while adding flow between the kitchen and dining room.

Finally, the green dresser adds height and interest to this room. What a unique and classic way to finish a farmhouse dining room!

Kitchen

The kitchen and dining room flow together, so a lot of details are consistent between these two spaces to add continuity.

We loved the previous wooden floating shelves, which added a minor but strong finish to the farmhouse style white sink. The current black shelves beautifully frame the window and complement the countertop and lighting.

With the dining flowing into the kitchen, the green pharmacie sign and green dresser tie in perfectly now and have a crisp flow and farmhouse touch.

The bar stools color and finish add personality to the white kitchen, while keeping with the old theme of the Gaines’ Farmhouse style.

And no farmhouse style is complete without natural wood beams to create height and character to this old country charm.
